The new National Rural Women’s Network is being developed in response to the 2008 National Rural Women’s Summit. The Summit was convened by the Federal Government and brought together eighty-two diverse rural and regional women to discuss issues important to them, their industries and the wider rural sector in the context of rapid environmental, economic and social change.

The Summit resulted in 109 policy recommendations and one of these was the unanimous support for the establishment of a National Rural Women’s Network. The National Rural Women’s Coalition have been working hard with Kristy De Camps, from elevation media, to develop the new Network and open up ways for all regional, rural and remote Australian women to connect and network with each other.

A state-of-the-art member-based website is currently being developed, along with a detailed social networking strategy to encompass both online and offline communication technologies which will see the network grow and connect women from all over the country to strengthen their communities, expand their opportunities and build a better future.
